Extra-curricular involvement allows students to link academic knowledge with practical experience, thereby leading to a better understanding of their own abilities, talents, and career goals. Study Centre Brighton and Hove organise a wide and diversified range of extra-curricular activities meeting a variety of student interests.

Regular activities include cultural visits to the theatre and watching films in the target language, flamenco shows, Spanish food and wine tasting, etc. Each year learners are given the opportunity to join a trip abroad. During the last few years students have visited Cuba, Gran Canaria, Valencia, Santander, Bilbao, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, where they enjoyed the experience and had the opportunity to practice what they learnt with us.

Working outside of the classroom with diverse groups of individuals often helps students gain more self-confidence, autonomy, and appreciation for others’ differences and similarities. Students also develop skills specific to their career path and imperative for future job success.

Extra-curricular activities are also a great way of meeting new people and bonding as a group. Many of our students have become good friends (and even more!) outside of the classroom, making the learning experience social as well as practical.
